The Basics

The Basic Training Academy is a group fitness program designed around our beloved Marine Corp to help and train individuals from all fitness levels on the basics of fitness. We don’t get in your face and call you a maggot, but rather, we provide positive feedback to help motivate you in a fun and group setting way. We focus on three areas to help our students reach their goals:

  • Flexibility:          We believe the more flexible you are the less prone to injury you will be.
  • Strength:            We train how to use your own body mass as the weight for muscle building exercises we perform.
  • Conditioning:    We train on conditioning by incorporating many running exercises.

Our philosophy of: “Getting a great workout and having fun along the way” is the cornerstone of our organization. We pride ourselves on making Basic Training Academy classes effective and fun. When was the last time you heard anyone say they had fun while working their butts off?

We are an outdoor fitness program from Spring through Fall and indoors over Winter ( usually December, January, and February). We enjoy the fresh air and meet at several local forest preserves and parks. Additionally, All of our classes are different so you’ll never know what to expect. It is through this approach that we keep our classes fresh to avoid burnout and boredom.

Our program meets three times a week usually Tuesday & Thursday at 6:30pm and Saturday mornings at 8:00am and class generally will last about an hour. We work on such things as push ups, crunches, leg lunges, and a whole host of other items. It sounds vanilla, but it is far from it, just ask some of the current members.

Unlike traditional gyms where you are on your own most of the time, our programs have several instructors at every class to help guide you and provide the necessary feedback to get the most out of every class.
